Shiro is the mother of Capheus and his unnamed younger sister. She is incredibly close to her son and does her best to take care of him, though she is living with AIDS and without enough money to pay for treatment. She is very proud of Capheus but feels guilty that he is forced to look after her.
Biography
Some time ago, she fell in love with a man in a rivaling tribe and conceived their first child Capheus. Though they alternating between their two tribes to be housed and nurtured, her husband decides to join politics to bring forth change, soon afterwards being killed.
After his death, villagers came for Capheus; Shiro stood her ground against group of men, despite the risk set for herself and her unborn child. She left the village and her tribe to protect him, but unable to care for herself, she gave up her daughter to an orphanage after the birth.
Shiro eventually contracts the AIDS virus, though it is not revealed how this happens.

Shiro is briefly seen in the episode. During the introduction of Capheus, she is resting in bed, battling the Virus. She asks why her son has been so good to her.
